On Wednesday 31/1/2024 the new book by the author and researcher Dr. Yannis Karantzoglou, entitled Intercessors and Dosilogoi and the end of Jewish entrepreneurship, was presented at the bookstore “Janos” in Aristotelous, which is published by Epikentro.
The book was presented by the academic historians Maria Kavala and Stratos Dordanas, the author Beatriki (Betty) Saias-Magrizou, the author Sakis Moumtzis, and the author of the historical essay. The discussion was moderated by the journalist Stavros Tzimas
The Vice President of the Community Board of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, Mr Lazaros Sefiha, introduced the book, noting among other things: ‘In the first few years after the end of the war there was a demand for justice. Unfortunately, this demand was gradually weakened. The silence that prevailed in the wider society of the city was a conscious choice that shaped what is nowadays described by researchers with the word ‘memorialization’. Yannis Karatzoglou returns with evidence. He speaks with names. This contribution of the book is very important, considering that often silence protects the real culprits.”
