On 02.02.2024, the President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece and the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, Mr. David Saltiel, welcomed the new Ambassador of Austria, Mrs. Gerda Vogl, who was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Austria in Thessaloniki, Mrs. Evelyn Papadopoulou, at the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki. Mrs. Vogl and Mrs. Papadopoulou were guided by the Museum’s Scientific Officer, Dr. Xenia Eleftheriou, through the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki and were impressed by the exhibits and especially by the temporary exhibition “Thessaloniki Synagogues: Unknown Aspects of Local History” and the Museum’s new digital application entitled: “Searching for the traces of Jewish presence in Thessaloniki”.
The Ambassador of Austria then visited the offices of the ICF, where she was informed about current issues concerning the Community and in particular about the progress achieved in important projects such as the construction of the Greek Holocaust Museum.
